Architecturally designed home in Atawhai by Jeremy Smith of Irving Smith Architects Nelson. This home won an Award for its architecture in the NZ Architecture Awards 2017 – One Storey House.
The house is divided into three one-story sections; one against the road, an intermediate section; and the main floor of the house to the rear, which is protected by the other two forms from the suburban edge and lifted up high enough for views out over the bay. The house hugs the landscape and the form of the building sits beautifully on the hill.
